Welcome to the land of Gods - "Haridwar"

Haridwar, the religious city, the holy town of Hindu traditions and Vedic culture, the place of Ganga aarti, the land of ghats, is located in Uttarakhand.

Since Haridwar is the most populous district of Uttarakhand ; it is the habitation of different creeds and social groups . In modern India Haridwar is also famous for its industrial vicinities like State Industrial Development corporation of Uttarakhand (SIDUL) and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) that supply a huge resource of employment for the local people.

Rajaji National Park draws the attention of wildlife lovers because of its rich bio diversity. It has about 820 sq kilometer area abounds in scores of wild animals. Rishikesh, Dehradun and Roorkee are the nearby cities and Mussoorie is the nearest Hill station.

Ghats of Haridwar

Ganga Ghats at Haridwar are considered as one of the holiest places in Haridwar. Some of the prominent and popular Ghats at Haridwar are the Harkipauri Ghat, Gau Ghat, Asthi Pravah Ghat, Subhash Ghat, VIP Ghat, Vishnu Ghat, Ram Ghat, and Kusha Ghat.

Haridwar city is one of the starting points of Chardham Yatra. It is the city where river Ganga leaves Himalayas and enters plains. It is one of the 7 holiest cities of Hindus. The city is known for its biggest and most famous ghat called Har-ki-pauri, where every morning and evening Ganga aarti takes place on the banks of river Ganga.

Haridwar means the gateway of lord Vishnu's abode or four holy places (Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri). Haridwar is to be believed one of the four sacred places where Nectar (Amrit) was strewn about on the holy place 'HARI KI PAURI' during the clash among Deities and Devils. 'HAR KI PAURI' is the very place where over 100 million pilgrims have a holy dip in the Ganges (the second largest river in India) on MAHAKUMBH (the biggest serene gathering) after alternation of every twelve years and partly after six years. Besides Hari ki Pauri Haridwar possesses numerous temples like Chandi Devi, Mansa Devi, Bharat Mata, Gita Mandir, Bilkeshwar Mahadev, Dakash Temple, Doodhadhari Barfani Temple, Jain Temple, Maya Devi, Sureshwari Temple etc.
